Georgian Oak Round Tilt Top Breakfast Table.

Plase note; Sale is for the table only, items placed ontop are not included in the sale of this item.

A lovely tilt top early Georgian table.

This is a charming example of a tilt top breakfast table from the early Georgian era believed to be made between C1790 - 1810. This completely original breakfast table is made from all solid Oak featuring a beautifully hand shaped base and lovely waxed finish with a lightly faded original medium oak colour, lots of patina, wear and history.

The solid Oak top is made from 3 wide oak planks (there are gaps in some of the top joints as usual with an antique of this age) with the loveliest of grain and you can still see the tooling marks from when it was made. This table also still has the original wrought iron latch for the tilting mechanism which is still in a perfect working order.

The original wax finish on this table has been built up to a gloss over the long period since the table was made and looks exceptional for it. This is not a finish you can get quickly and it is very rare to come across an item which has been so well looked after and preserved. The wax finish is also one of the most durable finishes if built up like this one as most marks and scuffs can be buffed out or slightly more severe ones may be removed by adding more furniture wax.

This table has a small overall form yet is versatile from having a round shaped top managing to seat up to 3 people and be used as a breakfast table as originally intended or be used as a hall/lamp or occasional table. Unusually this table is solid with no breaks or repairs to the base and still has the original working tilting mechanism.

This item is in an incomparable condition for its age as shown in the photographs below however being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents however, we feel this adds to its charm and character so we have left it untouched and as it came in from the previous owner.
