A comfortable but decorative early armchair.
We are offering for sale a lovely condition late Georgian to early Victorian (circa 1830) classically carved and shaped button back armchair.
This chair features the most beautifully carved floral featured top rail sweeping down the molded side rails to the finely carved scrolled acanthus leaf arms finishing to turned front legs which stand on polished brass castors.
This lovely chair has been skillfully upholstered around 5 years ago in a light green flat weave material featuring a deep button and pleated back and is still a very comfortable shapely chair and ideal for any period property.
This chair is structurally solid, in good order with no loose joints but has had some old repairs done to the back legs (pictured), the castors have been replaced at some stage also. The material and inner padding seems to be in very good condition and the chair has come from a smoke-free environment. The material is used and is not absolutely perfect, does have some minor discolorations and pulled threads here and there as expected with used upholstery. However, the material can be left as it is in a good condition overall or it could be fully upholstered to your taste. We would be able to quote for re-upholstering this armchair for you if you enquire.
Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but does have signs of wear and tear. However, we feel that these points are which adds to part of its charm and character with it being antique.
