Antique Edwardian Coal Purdonium.

A lovely Art Nouveau coal Purdonium fireside cabinet, ideal for open fires.

We are happy to offer this excellent condition antique Edwardian (circa 1900's) coal purdonium box ideal for any period property.

This simple but elegant purdonium features a lovely rich walnut colour with the original French polished finish with patina. This cabinet comes complete with the original metal lift out coal carry liner which is unusually in almost perfect condition with no rot (however is missing the handle to the liner). The Purdonium also comes with its original polished solid brass shovel with walnut turned handle and holster to the rear making it ideal for neat mess-free storage of coal or kindling. This lovely looking box also features a highly polished brass lid knob with back plate, ornate Art Nouveau brass strap hinges and a lovely ornate brass bar carry handle.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining original patina and character by just carefully waxing this item to enhance and preserve the finish whilst giving it a natural sheen and highly polishing the brassware and adding jade oil to preserve the sheen.

Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there, as expected with an item of this age. However, we feel that these points are which adds to the charm of the item with it being an antique.
