Product Description

Antique Mahogany Side Cupboard by Maple & Co.

A fine example of a classic design.

This exquisite bedside cupboard, crafted by the renowned Maple & Co., is a superb example of early 20th-century craftsmanship. Constructed in C1900 from a rich, warm mahogany, the piece showcases a beautiful patina achieved through its original French polished finish, which has been meticulously preserved over time.
The cabinet's design is both elegant and functional, featuring clean lines complemented by the subtle grace of boxwood inlaid stringing that outlines the front panel of the door. The solid Mahogany top of the cabinet is distinguished by a serpentine up-stand, a charming and classic detail that adds a touch of sophistication. This functional piece would have served as a versatile bedside or side table, t he panel door opens to reveal a single, fixed central shelf which provides practical storage. The cabinet retains its original ornate brass turn latch, a delightful detail that features a decorative ring handle, adding to its authentic period charm. A testament to its provenance, the cabinet is complete with its original Maple & Co. circular badge affixed to the back of the door, inscribed with "FROM MAPLE & CO LIMITED LONDON & PARIS," confirming its authenticity and heritage.
Standing on four slender, tapered legs, this piece is in excellent condition and presents a wonderful opportunity for a discerning collector or a client seeking a high-quality, authentic piece of antique furniture with a celebrated maker's mark.

This cupboard is in an outstanding condition featuring its original idyllic beautiful lightly faded glazed french polished finish with a lovely rich Mahogany colour. We have carefully cleaned and waxed this cupboard, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Condition and Provenance As an antique, this cabinet shows signs of age and use. While in fantastic condition, expect minor marks consistent with historical pieces. The cupboard is of a great quality and is structurally sound, with no major damage that would detract from its beauty or functionality.

I bought a restored Victorian table from here. When it arrived, it was wrapped incredibly well in bubble wrap, and had obviously been recently polished. It was immaculate. Friendly service, and a good price. Would definitely use again.
