Georgian Mahogany 'D' End Dining Table.

A fantastic solid Mahogany 'D' End dining table.

This is a magnificent and genuinely antique Georgian/Regency (C1820) twin pedestal dining table, crafted from richly toned mahogany that displays a beautiful, lightly faded original colour and a superb grain. The oblong top features gently rounded corners and is protected by a lovely glazed French polished 'skin' that emphasizes the timber's natural figuring. The table is supported by two substantial, finely turned pedestals, each resting on three gracefully swept, reeded splayed legs finished with brass box castors. The construction of this piece is unusually solid, heavy, and robust for its type, suggesting a piece of very high quality. This table is highly versatile: it can function as a generous extending dining table using a central loose leaf, or the two 'D-end' sections can be separated to serve as a high-quality pair of side pedestal tables. The table will comfortably sit up to 8 people with the centre leaf installed and up to 6 people with just the pedestals together.
The table has been sympathetically restored in our workshop to ensure it is immediately ready for its new home, marrying its genuine antique character with modern usability. Although the table may have originally been much longer with a third centre pedestal, the remaining sections form a perfectly proportioned and beautiful dining suite. Notably, the pull-out centre leaf supports, which hold the central leaf in place, appear to have been remade at some point. This restoration work has been executed extremely well, resulting in a mechanism that is likely more robust and durable than the original, ensuring the table looks fantastic and is fully functional when fully assembled. This piece offers exceptional quality and stability, making it a very usable and imposing center-piece for any dining room.

This item is in outstanding condition as shown by the photographs however being an antique item of this age there are blemishes and scuffs here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage.
