Antique Late Victorian Walnut Davenport Desk.

A Lovely period walnut davenport

We are delighted to offer for sale this excellent condition rare late Victorian (circa 1870) Walnut Davenport desk,
ideal for any period property.
This lovely original Davenport has fine inlay to the top stationary compartment, writing surface, kneehole back and the corner brackets.

This very usable and compact desk has a lockable (with 2 keys) lift up stationary compartment and is complete with its internal removable divisions. The sloping tooled red leather (original) covered writing surface conceals a fitted well with a birdseye maple veneered interior, completed by 2 removable divided pigeon holes. The desk also has 4 deep lockable drawers (with 2 keys) on the right side and dummy drawer fronts on the left side.

This very versatile, functional writing desk is well suited to laptop use as it has a lift up lid with a lockable (2 keys which use the same as the drawers) storage compartment to store the laptop and a leather skiver slope to aid writing or even typing on as the slope is a more comfortable position to type. The desk is also polished on the back enabling this desk to look at home and elegant placed almost anywhere in a room.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining original patina by just carefully waxing this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.

Please note; This item is in great condition for its age as shown by the photographs, however, being an antique item of this age there may be minor blemishes here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage of the piece.
