Original Fully Restored "Phillips & Son" Bent Steel plate Safe.
A lovely very rare Phillips & Son safe in a stunning working fully restored condition.
We bring to you this one off example of a veryrare "Phillips & Son" quality patent 1/4" bent steel plate safe made inBirmingham in around C1890.
This lovely safe features its lovely rich green and black exterior which is exactly matched to the original colours. We have pictures of this safe in its original condition to prove its provenance, supplied if interested. The glossy paintwork is hand-polished single stage paint (not lacquered) exactly as it would have been originally. The safe is complemented by the ornate traditionally hand-painted cream coach lines which elegantly frames the door. This safe has been fully restored from bare metal, having been stripped and linished to ensure the highest quality refurbishment possible. The inside has been re-painted with in a light green colour that exactly matches the original complete with its original untouched transfer to the back and red hand painted lines which frames it. The safes paint has then been polished to a deep shine and waxed to protect the paintwork, the lovely original brasswork has then been highly polished.
This safe features its manufacturer's polished finely brass plaque of 'PHILLIPS & SON Patentees & Safe Engineers Birmingham'. The amazing solid polished brass handle reminds usof a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is sturdy and has a satisfying latchingaction in a smoothly working order. The safes comes with 1 extra brass handle to aid opening the heavy solid 1/2" plate steel door. The external lock is working smoothly with 2keys and the brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely lift up lid with the words 'Secure Lever Lock' cast into the lid which elegantly covers thekeyhole when not in use. The safe also has 1 internal secure locking drawer with paintwork to the front which is mimicking the exterior complete with 2 working keys, original polished brass dropper handle and brass lock.
Inside the safe we have also added green baize removable liners to keep your valuables and the safe itself protected from scratches or damage when stored inside.
This safe is ideal forstoring important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash,jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe. This safe would look fabulous in a loft styleapartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talkingpoint for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table withstorage.
Please note; This itemis in very good condition for its age but will obviously have the odd blemishand scuff here and there. However, we feel that this adds to the charm andauthenticity of the item with it being Antique.
