A very rare early Thomas Withers safe in a stunning fully working condition.
We bring to you this veryrare excellent condition "T. Withers" Patent steel safe made inWest Bromwich by the maker Thomas Withers in around C1850 - 1870.
This lovely safe features lovely deep green glossy polished paintwork complemented by the ornate traditionally hand-painted yellow coach lines which elegantly frame the door. This safe has been re-painted with colours that exactly match the original scheme of the safe whilst leaving some slight metal patina. The safes paint has then been polished to a deep shine and waxed to protect the paintwork, the lovely original brasswork has then been highly polished.
This safe alsofeatures its manufacturer's polished brass plaque of 'T.WITHERS & SONS LTD WEST BROMWICH ENGLAND'. The amazing substantially solid brass handle reminds usof a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is sturdy and has a satisfying latchingaction in a smoothly working order (please note the handle has a historic brass welded repair as shown and is not completely straight). The external lock is working smoothly with 2keys and the brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely sliding lid with the words 'INVIOLABLE LOCK' cast into the lid which elegantly covers thekeyhole when not in use. The inside of thesafe has been freshly painted in a cream in-keeping with the original theme. The safe also has 1 internal secure locking drawer complete hand-painted pinstriped lines which mimic the exterior and is complete with the original polished brass handle and working brass lock with 2 keys.
This safe is ideal forstoring important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe. This safe would look fabulous in a loft styleapartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talkingpoint for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table withstorage.
