Original Antique 'Midland Safe Co' Fully Restored Safe.
A very rare Antique Midland Safe Co brand safe in a stunning working original condition.
We bring to you this very rare excellent fully restored condition Midland Safe Co Brand Patent steel safe made in Birmingham around the 1880's - 1900's.
This lovely safe features green paintwork complemented by the black door frame that is embellished with ornate hand-painted red fine lines which elegantly frame the centre of the door. This safe has been fully re-painted from bare metal with colours that exactly match the original specification of the safe whilst leaving some slight metal patina. The safe has then been waxed to protect the paintwork and give a natural sheen and the lovely original brasswork has been highly polished.
This safe also features its manufacturer's polished brass plate of 'MIDLAND SAFE Co - BIRMINGHAM'. The amazing solid brass 'T-Bar' handle reminds us of a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is sturdy and has a satisfying latching action in a smoothly working order. The external lock is working smoothly with 2 keys (1 original) and the brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely sliding lid which covers the keyhole with the words 'INVIOLABLE LOCK' cast into the cover. Inside the safe features the original blue paint colour with red embellishments and accents which we have mixed and blended into the original paint to keep the safe totally authentic. The safe also has 1 internal secure locking drawer complete with 2 keys with the original lock and painted knob.
This safe is ideal for storing important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe. This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.
Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will obviously have the odd blemish and scuff here and there. However, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being Antique.
Also note this item is heavy (90kg), so please see our delivery section near the end of our listing.
