An outstanding original set.
We are offering for sale this lovely condition early Victorian (circa 1870) matching settee and gent's armchair made from the finest solid Walnut.
The settee features an elegantly shaped and carved centre back with a deep buttoned panel. The panel is flanked by 2 plush lower deep buttoned curved and scrolled arms complete with elegantly scroll carved cabriole arm frontages to elegantly turned and fluted forelegs. The suite features a deep buttoned back and a sprung seat. The settee features its original French polished finish with its original lightly faded walnut colour with patina.
The chair mimics the settee in almost every way other than its padded arms which are supported by its elegant fretwork and carved Walnut frame.
The material on this suite is a soft feel cream coloured velvet with matching braid and is used but in fantastic almost as new condition from a smoke and pet free home. The inner padding is traditionally sprung (does not clunk), in very good condition and is very comfortable to sit in. This suite is very usable every day and is not just a show item as many of these suites are more suited to being.
This suite is in fantastic solid condition and does not have loose joints, splits or wobbles. The suite stands on its original solid brass castors on typical early Victorian white porcelain wheels, none of which are broken odd or different.
If the material is not to your taste we would be able to quote for re-upholstering this settee for you if you enquire.
Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but does have signs of wear and tear, however, we feel that these points are which adds to part of its charm and character with it being antique. Also note, we would be willing to split the set on enquiry.
