Antique Victorian Mahogany Button back Gents Arm chair.
A comfortable but decorative open armchair.
We are offering for sale this lovely condition early Victorian (circa 1870) classically carved, spoon back armchair made from solid walnut. This chair features carved scrolled arms finishing to carved cabriole front legs which stands on its original brass castors with the typical Victorian brown porcelain wheels.
This chair has been re-upholstered to a high standard (approximately 10 years ago) in a light greyish teal diamond patterned flat weave material which is in a fantastic clean condition (there is a small stain on the arm as shown in the picture), ideal for any period property. We have just vacuum cleaned the upholstery and carefully waxed the frame. The material could be left as it because of its good used condition from a smoke and pet free home or it could be fully upholstered to your taste. We would be able to quote for re-upholstering this chair for you if you enquire.
This item is structurally solid, in good order with no loose joints. The material and inner padding seems to be in very good condition. The springs do not clunk and the chair is very comfortable to sit in.
Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but does have signs of wear and tear, however, we feel that these points are which adds to part of its charm and character with it being antique.
