Original Vintage 'SAMUEL WITHERS & Co' Safe.
A very rare Samuel Withers brand Large safe in a stunning working original condition.
We bring to you this very rare excellent fully restored condition Samuel Withers Brand Patent steel safe made in West Bromwich around the 1900's - 1950's.
This lovely safe features lovely Burgundy paintwork complemented by the ornate hand-painted original fine lines which elegantly frame the door. This safe has been re-painted with colours that match the original specification of the safe whilst leaving some slight metal patina. The lovely original brasswork has then been highly polished.
This safe also features its manufacturer's polished brass plate of 'SAMUEL WITHERS & Co LTD WEST BROMWICH'. The amazing substantially solid brass handle reminds us of a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is sturdy and has a satisfying latching action in a smoothly working order. The safe also features a large extra handle to aid opening the large heavy door. The external lock is working smoothly with 2 keys (both original brass keys) and the brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely lift up lid which covers the keyhole with a nice elegant design cast into the cover. Inside the safe features the original greyish lilac paint colour which we have mixed and blended into the original paint to keep the safe totally authentic. The safe also has 2 internal secure locking drawers with the original paintwork to the front which matches the colour scheme of the exterior. The individually keyed drawers are complete with 2 keys each (1 original brass key for each) with the original brass handle and 4 lever locks.
This safe is ideal for storing important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe. This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.
Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will obviously have the odd blemish and scuff here and there. However, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being Antique.
