Product Description

William IV Round Mahogany Triform Occasional Table.

A very rare and unusual early table.
This is an exceptional example of a high-quality English Late regency - William IV Occasional Table (circa 1815 -1835), also known as a Lamp or Reading Stand, executed in fine, deep-patinated Mahogany. The table embodies the refined elegance and architectural precision characteristic of the Neoclassical Revival.
The circular top showcases high-quality cabinetmaking featuring highly figured flame Mahogany veneer. This is beautifully framed by a border of cross-banded mahogany around the edge. The whole top retains a rich, mature polish and surface patina consistent with its age.
The top is supported by a truly distinctive and elegant three-sided (tri-faceted) pedestal. This unusual detail replaces the typical cylindrical shaft with three flat vertical faces that narrow as they descend to the base, lending the piece a refined visual lightness and serving as a key stylistic indicator of the high-end Regency period.
The pedestal terminates in a sturdy triform platform base—a classic three-legged support structure. The three substantial legs are boldly swept and scrolled, providing excellent balance and stability. Each leg culminates in a well-defined bun foot, fitted with its original, solid brass castor. These castors are notably charming, being low-proportioned and quite wide, an unusual feature that confirms the table's purpose as an easily movable piece for a formal room, while their solid brass construction attests to the high standard of original manufacture.
The overall design balances the visual lightness of the tri-faceted column with the necessary stability of the triform base, resulting in a beautiful, highly functional, and authentically detailed antique.
The table has been through our workshop so we can assure that it is in fantastic, solid condition, with no joint movement or wobbles. We have cleaned and waxed the table, which retains its original, lightly faded French polished finish, showcasing a lovely patina that can only be achieved with time and care.

Condition and Provenance As an antique, this table does show signs of age and use. While in fantastic condition, expect minor marks consistent with historical pieces. The table is of a great quality and is structurally sound, with no major damage that would detract from its beauty or functionality.
