Product Description

Antique Edwardian Coal Box Purdonium.

A lovely Rosewood coal box Purdonium, ideal for open fires.

We bring to you this excellent condition antique Edwardian (circa 1900's) Rosewood coal purdonium cabinet ideal for any period property.

This well-made cabinet features a very ornate floral marquetry panel to the lid and rear up-stand which is complemented by its superb solid polished cast brass top fixed handle and knob. The box comes with a rear carrier for its original polished brass coal shovel. This very ornate purdonium features a lovely lightly faded Rosewood colour with the original polish and patina. The box comes complete with the original metal lift out coal carry liner (which is unusually in almost perfect condition with no rot) making it ideal for neat mess-free storage of coal or kindling.

We have sympathetically restored this item maintaining original patina by just carefully waxing this item to enhance the French polished surface and preserve it for many years to come.

Please note this item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there, however, we feel that adds to the charm of the item with it being an antique.

I bought a restored Victorian table from here. When it arrived, it was wrapped incredibly well in bubble wrap, and had obviously been recently polished. It was immaculate. Friendly service, and a good price. Would definitely use again.
