Antique Mid Victorian Mahogany Tall Chest of 6 Drawers

An amazing condition original chest of drawers.

We are delighted to bring to you one of the finest examples of a rare Victorian (circa 1850-1870) 6 deep descending drawer chest of drawers. This tall chest of drawers features the finest cuban flame grain book-matched Mahogany to the drawer fronts and the top fall moulded edge. This simple yet elegant chest of drawers is in an outstanding condition featuring its original beautiful lightly faded french polished finish with a lovely rich mahogany colour. The chest also features the finest quality original turned mahogany knobs and turned Mahogany keyhole escutcheons in front of its original locks (no keys). The finely dovetailed solid Mahogany drawers are in good condition, smoothly operating with not too much drawer wear and are very clean inside. This bank of drawers has one very large full depth bottom drawer which goes past the plinth to maximise space. As myths go, these were sometimes used as a cot for small babies which would be lined with blankets. The chest of drawers also stands on 4 bun feet. We have just carefully cleaned and waxed this chest, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
