Antique Victorian Mahogany Bedside Cupboards

A fantastic pair of period Bedsides.

Here we have this fine example of a set of Victorian (circa 1860) Flame Mahogany bedside cupboards. These well crafted cupboards feature solid Mahogany tops and rounded corners to the whole frontage with 1 drawer and a cupboard base. The solid mahogany dovetailed drawers are of the highest quality, feature their original blue paper lining and have 2 finely turned knobs which are framed with moulding. As a sign of their quality the drawers can be placed upside-down and still work perfectly which is the true test of cabinet maker craftsmanship. The curved full width cupboard doors have a simple yet attractive flame Mahogany panel in the centre which is framed with moulding. The doors are also paired which means the one is hanged on the right and the other is hinged on the left to be placed either side of a bed. The doors are latched on a lovely ball bearing on the top of the doors which is really smooth and satisfying to open and easily snap closed. Opening the doors reveals the curved construction of the door with a fielded panel to the centre, all of which is polished. Inside the cupboards are a Mahogany lipped removable shelf. The cabinets stands proudly on fall edge cross-banded plinths.

These cupboard are in an outstanding condition featuring its original French polished finish with a lovely deep Mahogany colour. These cabinets are ready for their new home, we have carefully cleaned and waxed these cupboards which maintains their original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches, dents and the odd minor repair here and there. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
