Antique Arts & Crafts Oak Smokers Pipe Cupboard

A unique antiquity.

Here we have this fine example of a very rare Edwardian (circa 1900) Oak 2 door wall hanging smokers pipe cabinet with Arts & Crafts influences throughout. The cabinet is made from solid Oak, presented in excellent condition and will make a charming addition to any collection. To the top of this cabinet is a gallery shelf with a carved and shaped pediment. The sides are beautifully shaped and scratch reeded which flows to its lower shaped frieze.
The 2 panel doors are wonderfully carved and open to reveal a fitted interior with hanging racks to the internal faces. The internal twin drawers with original brass handles offer useful storage for small items complete with a shelf for the blending pot and a lower oddment shelf.
This lovely cabinet is complete with its original rare earthenware tobacco blending pot with no cracks or breaks. The cabinet is lockable via its original brass lever lock and smoothly working key complete with its original brass keyhole / pull knob escutcheon to front.

This cupboard is in an outstanding original condition featuring its original beautiful lightly faded french polished finish with a lovely medium Oak colour. We have just carefully cleaned and waxed this cupboard, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Whilst able to perform as a wall cabinet the piece will free-stand so makes a great desk top or shelf item.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.

Also note; the pipes pictured are not included in the sale however, can be purchased.
