An original road lantern electric converted.

This original George Pike (Birmingham) "BAT" road lantern is a striking example of British industrial history, having been sympathetically restored and professionally converted for interior use. Retaining its rugged, weathered yellow paint and authentic "road-worn" patina, the lamp has been expertly adapted to house a modern electrical fitting without compromising its industrial integrity. It features a custom-crafted wooden base that replicates the form of the original fuel tank, providing excellent stability and a clean aesthetic. The conversion includes a period-correct vintage brass bulb holder with an integrated manual on/off switch located within the head, finished with a high-quality braided fabric flex.
What makes this piece particularly special are the three amber bullseye Fresnel lenses, which remain in excellent condition. When illuminated, they project beautiful, concentric light patterns and a soft, moody "warm-candle" glow, making it a perfect statement piece for a study, snug, or industrial-themed living space. This high-quality conversion was executed with the purist in mind and remains fully reversible; the original burner (included) can be reinstated to return the lantern to its display-only oil form if desired. Aside from a small, neat notch in the door frame to accommodate the modern wiring, the lamp remains in its original state, offering a unique blend of historical character and modern functionality.
