Vintage Polished Bent Steel Safe.

A 50's secure safe in a stunning working condition.

We bring to you this very rare excellent condition Vintage Brain & Co Patent safe made from bent steel in around the 1950's.

This lovely safe features the original manufacturer's solid brass polished plate of 'W.E. BRAIN & Co MANUFACTURERS BIRMINGHAM'. The fantastic solid polished brass knob reminds us of a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is solid and has a satisfying latch action in a smoothly working order. The external lock is working smoothly with 2 keys (1 original) and the polished brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely pivoting plate lid which covers the keyhole.

We have hand stripped and polished the metalwork inside and out whilst maintaining original character and some slight metal patina. There are slight remnants of the original paint in some edges that we have left as character. We have then coated the polished metal with a high gloss durable lacquer inside and out for protection. We have also serviced the locking mechanism of this safe and oiled the door hinges. The spectacular brass work has then been carefully polished it to a lovely sheen.

Inside the safe is 1 secure locking jewellery drawer with 2 keys (1 original) complete with the original lock and polished brass dropper handle. This safe is ideal for storing important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe.

This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.

Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there however, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being vintage. Also note that this safe is linished by hand so is not a completely uniform finish as shown in the photographs.

Please also note, due to the size and weight of this safe we would be delivering this safe via a pallet delivery which is to the kerbside only and will be the buyer responsibility to transport it into a property. We advise the use of sack truck with a ratchet strap securing the safe to the sack truck to aid moving with an extra person for stability.
