Product Description

Original Vintage Bent Steel Safe.

A 50's secure safe in a stunning working condition.

We bring to you this very rare excellent condition The Bent Steel Safe co Patent safe made from solid steel plate in around the 1950's.

This lovely safe features the original manufacturer's solid brass polished plate of 'THE BENT STEEL SAFE Co SAFE ENGINEERS, LONDON & BIRMINGHAM'. The fantastic original solid polished brass handle reminds us of a bolt action rifle as the mechanism is solid and has a satisfying latch action in a smoothly working order and comes complete with the original robust solid brass polished handle to aid opening the door. The external lock is working smoothly with 2 keys and the polished brass keyhole escutcheon has a lovely pivoting plate lid which covers the keyhole.

We have sympathetically restored this safe from bare metal and have restored the paintwork to its former glory whilst maintaining original character and some slight metal patina. We have also recreated the hand painted gold pin-striped lines to the original manufacturers design. We have also serviced the locking mechanism of this safe and oiled the door hinges. The spectacular brass work is completely original and we have carefully polished it to a lovely sheen.

Inside the safe is 1 shelf and is complete with the original gold transfer to the back of the door which reads 'FIRE & THIEF RESISTING OFFICE SAFE' on a brown background which is framed with a gold line. This safe is ideal for storing important paperwork, house deeds, birth certificates, passports, cash, jewellery or anything else of value and is obviously rather safe.

This safe would look fabulous in a loft style apartment or vintage themed home and would certainly be an interesting talking point for guests. This item could also be used as a small coffee table with storage.

Please note; This item is in very good condition for its age but will have the odd blemish here and there however, we feel that this adds to the charm and authenticity of the item with it being vintage.

Also note this item is very heavy (137kg), please see our delivery section near the end of our listing.

  • Victorian Table

I bought a restored Victorian table from here. When it arrived, it was wrapped incredibly well in bubble wrap, and had obviously been recently polished. It was immaculate. Friendly service, and a good price. Would definitely use again.
